1,243 Total Calls for 2008

Jan. 1, 2009 - Unity VFD responded to 1,243 calls in 2008, increasing for the fifth year in a row. Of those calls we had 834 Qrs calls, 409 Fire calls including 115 auto accidents. Thanks to all our members for another great year of work!


 

Mutual Aid response into Monroeville

Dec. 30, 2008 - Truck 233, Engine 233 and Engine 236 were dispatched for mutual aid response to Forbes Regional Hospital Professional Office Bldg. #2 for an automatic fire alarm. Chief 236 on scene nothing showing, Engine 236 to the pipes, Truck 233 to side A, Engine 233-2 to side A. Alarm reading 3rd floor water flow. Truck 233 and Engine 236 crews investigated, forced entry into utility room, no smoke or fire. Security and Maintenance called to correct problem with alarm.

After this incident, Truck 233 was assigned to Monroeville Station #5 for standby due to commercial structure fire on Route 22. Truck 233 crew covered for approx. 3 hours.

Motor Vehicle accident w/ injuries - Pa Turnpike

Dec. 23, 2008 - Plum Station 233 and Monroeville Station 4 were dispatched a Motor Vehicle accident with injuries on the PA Turnpike Milepost 55 Westbound. 233 Rescue and 233 Chief arrived, 1 vehicle into tree 2 severe injuries, patients extricated by Plum and Monroeville EMS. 233 Rescue and 194 Rescue crews lighted scene, checked for any other patients. 233 Engine 1 setup LZ for Life Flight at Unity U.P. Church for Plum Ems' patient.

Smoke in a Commercial Structure

Dec. 23, 2008 - Plum Station's 236,234,233, Westmoreland 333 and 332 were dispatched to possible Commercial Structure Fire at Manor House kitchens on Route 286 with smoke coming from roof. 236 Engine on scene split lay from end of parking lot, reporting light smoke and odor in structure. 233 Truck to side A, setup platform to roof, crew investigated, shut off roof HVAC units. Interior investigation found no further smoke or fire. confined to roof units.

Motor Vehicle accident w/ injuries

Nov. 30th, 2008 - Plum Station's 233 and 236 were dispatched a Motor Vehicle accident with injuries on Saltsburg Rd. 234 Chief on scene, 1 vehicle into a tree, 1 patient laying on ground. 233 Asst 2 arrived with QRS and started patient care. 233 Rescue arrived, assisted with patient care, lighting and spill pickup. 236 Engine on scene also assisted. Patient transported by Plum Ems.

Motor Vehicle accident w/ injuries

Nov. 25th, 2008 - Plum Station's 235 and 233 were dispatched a Motor Vehicle accident with injuries on Route 909 at Logans Ferry Rd. Engine 235-3 on scene with a 2 vehicle accident, 4 injuries, no entrapment but 2 patients still in vehicle. Rescue 233 arrived, provided lighting and assisted with patient care. Plum Ems, New Ken Ems, Arnold Ems and Lower Burrell #3 Ambulances all arrived to transport patients. Engine 233-1 staged with traffic control. Engine 235-3 remained until vehicles removed by tow, all units returned.

Chimney Fire

Nov. 18th 2008 - Plum Station's 234,233,236 and Sardis (WC333) were dispatched to a chimney fire on Maple St. in Renton. 234 Chief on scene with command, 2 story residence with a working chimney, heavy black smoke. 234 Attack on scene took plug in front of residence, interior crews to work on removing source (wood burner). 233 Truck arrived, started Aerial operations to roof/chimney. Dry Chem unsuccessful from inside, 233 Truck used chimney brushes and poles to scrape burning embers and soot while interior crews removed and overhauled the debris. 236 Engine, 333 Engine on scene also assisted with operations. Fire out, no extension, all units returned.

Motorcycle Accident w/ fatality

Nov. 2nd, 2008 - Station 233 was requested to assist Plum Police with lighting and traffic control at the scene of a fatal motorcycle accident on Hulton Rd @ Kirk Dr. 233 Rescue and 233 Squad assisted Police until County Coroner and Police completed investigation.

Bedroom Fire

Nov. 1st, 2008 - Plum Station's 233,234,236 and Monroeville Truck 195 were dispatched to a structure fire (fire in bedrrom) on Deborah Jane Dr. in Plum Borough. Plum Ems and 234 Squad on scene reporting fire out, mattress outside on porch smoldering with smoke condition inside. 233 Engine 2 arrived, 233 Chief assuming command. Further investigation found fire out, light smoke on first floor, no extension in bedroom. Used water can for smoldering remains on porch. Command held Engine 233-2, cancelled all others.

Motor Vehicle Accident w/ fatality

Nov. 1st, 2008 - Station 233 was dispatched to a Motor Vehicle Accident with entrapment on Universal Rd at Franklin Dr. Accident was on Penn Hills/Plum border, Penn Hills Engine 223 already on scene, accident was in Plum, requested Station 233. Rescue 233 arrived, 1 DOA in vehicle, R233 remained on scene providing lighting and requested Plum Fire Police 395 to scene per Plum PD request. Victim removed once A.C. Coroner arrived.

Vehicle Fire

Oct. 19th, 2008 - Plum Station's 233, 235, 234 and PH Truck 227 were dispatched to a Vehicle Fire endangering a structure on Ridgeview Dr. in Kellywood plan. 233 Asst 1 on scene car outside of garage fire under control by homeowner. 233 Engine 2 continued to scene, all others disregarded. 233 Engine 2 crew used water can to hit hot spots.

New Qrs233-Chief's vehicle

On October 2nd,2008 Unity Vfd placed into service QRS233, our new 2008 Ford Expedition XLT 4WD to be used as our primary Qrs and Chief's vehicle. The custom work was done by First Out Specialty Equipment in Moon Twp.


 

Motor Vehicle Accident with injuries

Sept. 16, 2008 - Plum Station's 233 and 235 were dispatched to a Motor Vehicle Accident with injuries on Milltown Rd. near Kerr Rd. 233 Chief on scene with command, 2 vehicle accident, 1 patient on roadway no entrapment. Accident was on Milltown Rd. near Barnes.
Plum Ems on scene treated patient, 233 Rescue arrived, lighted scene and assisted with patient care. 235 Engine on scene checked vehicles for hazards and debris cleanup. Patient transported by ems.

High Winds bring burst of calls to Plum

Sept. 14, 2008 - A high wind warning for Allegheny County kept Plum Fire Companies busy Sunday evening, unfortunately during the Steeler game. Unity Station 233 responded to 11 calls in a 2 1/2 hour period
with some continuing late into early morning. Calls varied from smoke in structures, to trees and power lines down and a motor vehicle accident.

Motor Vehicle Accident on PA Turnpike

Sept. 14, 2008 - Plum Station 233 and Monroeville Station 194 were dispatched to a Motor Vehicle Accident on the PA Turnpike 50.4EB
with possible entrapment. 233 Squad arrived to find a pickup truck that went up approx. 50 feet hillside that then over top of hill into woods & weeds. 3 occupants self extricated, 2 injuries, no entrapment. 233 Rescue arrived, 233 Chief assumed command. Monroeville Ems, Rescue 194, 233 Engine 1 all on scene assisted with stokes basket, patient removal. Patients transported by ems, Turnpike to handle vehicle removal.

August 20, 2008 - Plum Station's 235 & 233 were dispatched to 130 Coxcomb Hill Rd (Rt.909) for a vehicle fire. 235 Engine arrived to find a Mini-Van fully involved. 233 Engine 1 arrived, crew assisted 235 Engine with extinguishment.

Motor vehicle accident w/injuries

July 30th, 2008 - Plum Station's 233 & 236 were dispatched to 7800 block of Saltsburg Rd. for a MVA w/injuries. 233 Asst 2 on scene w/command, 1 vehicle into pole, 1 injury, wires at top of pole arching.
233 Rescue on scene, closed roadway at the Legion, crew assisted with patient care. All other units disregarded. Patient transported by Plum Ems, 233 Rescue remained on scene with traffic detail until Duquesne Light shut power off and vehicle removed by tow.

Busy Sunday from storm

July 20th, 2008 - Unity Station 233 had a busy Sunday afternoon and evening mostly due to thunderstorms that rolled thru the area. We responded to 8 calls including wires down, transformer fire, tree down on a house, gas odor in a structure, smoke investigation and a MVA.

Police assisting driver out of vehicle not injured. 233 Chief held 233 Rescue to handle, all others cancelled. 233 Rescue arrived, lighted scene and cut section of fence and trees for vehicle to be removed by tow.

Electrical Fire in a residence

July 9th, 2008 - Plum Station's 233,234,236 and Monroeville Truck 195 were dispatched to smoke in a structure on Universal Rd. in Plum Borough. 233 Engine 2 arrived with a 1 story residential nothing showing. 233 Asst w/command. Further investigation found light smoke in the basement. 233 Truck arrived, crew assisted with ventilation and origin. Crews found wire burning and smoking in basement. Power shut off to home, smoke condition worsened for a brief time, fire put out with dry chem extinguisher. 234 Attack, 234 Engine on scene also assisted. 236 Engine and 195 Truck returned. Still reading power to home after meter was pulled. Homeowner stated there was popping and arching on pole near home prior to calling the fire dept. Appeared to be some type of grounding problem. Fire crews stood by until Duquesne Light arrived. All fire units returned.

Motorcycle accident - Pa Turnpike

July 9th, 2008 - Plum Station 233 was dispatched to the Pa. Turnpike Milepost 54EB for a MVA involving a motorcycle. 233 Rescue and 233 Asst arrived to find a Motorcycle on roadway and driver with leg injuries. 233 Asst w/command cancelled all other units. 233 Rescue crew assisted with patient care assisting Plum Ems. Patient transported to Trauma center.

Physical Rescue at Boyce Park

July 6th, 2008 - Plum Station's 233 & 236 were dispatched to a
physical rescue at Boyce Park. 233 Asst on scene with Monroeville and Allegheny County PD. Female with ankle injury about 75 yds into the woods from a service road. 233 Rescue, 233 Squad on scene. 233 Chief arrived with command. Patient removed along bike trail with Stokes basket, Plum Ems transported patient. Penn Hills Special Ops off road unit 226 was called but not needed.

Natural Gas line struck with leak

July 2nd, 2008 - Plum Station's 235 & 233 were dispatched to a
Natural Gas line struck by a contractor with leak on Frontenac Rd.
233 Engine 2 on scene with a main line leaking in front yard that was struck by digging equipment. 233 Chief with command. Gas. Co. representative on scene shut off gas to the home but main line still leaking. 233 Engine 2 crew assisted by Plum Police evacuated 6 homes on each side of street as a precaution until main line shut off by Gas co. 233 Engine 1 on scene also blocked roadway Frontenac @ Dinwiddie. 234 put on standby in their station per 233 Chief. Gas shut off and residents let back into their homes. Gas co. to make repairs.
Command terminated, all 233 units returned.

Natural Gas Leak

June 28th, 2008 - Plum Station's 233 & 235 were dispatched to a
Natural Gas Leak outside on Woodlawn Ave. 233 Asst on scene investigating. 233 Engine 2 on scene also, stage at intersection.
235 Engine, 233 Rescue staged on Hulton Rd. 233 Asst found an Equitable well with a small leak. No other hazards, Gas co. notified.
All units returned.

Motor Vehicle Accident w/ fire

May 31st, 2008 - Plum Station's 233 & 236 were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with fire on Center Rd. at Trestle Rd. Engine 233-1 and Asst 233 on scene with a car into a pole,vehicle fully involved with fire, no one inside vehicle, 1 minor injury attended to by Plum Ems. Engine 233-1 pulled 1. 3/4" preconnect and extinguished fire. Pole was cracked but no wires down. Engine 236-1 on scene also assisted as backup.

Mock car crash at Plum High School

May 15, 2008 - Plum High School group S.A.D.D. sponsored a Mock car crash at the high school parking lot to teach students the dangers of drinking and driving. A real life accident scene was created with victims and emergency units responding from Unity VFD, Plum Police and Plum Ems. Pictured below is Unity Rescue 233 crews performing extrication.

Residential Structure Fire

April 24th, 2008 - Plum Station's 234,233 & 235 were dispatched to a reported structure fire with injuries on Mcallister Dr. 234 Chief and 233 Chief arrived to find a 1 story ranch style home with light smoke showing from front door. 1 victim laying in front yard, Plum Ems on scene attended to patient. Investigation by Chief's found a kitchen fire being extinguished by neighbor. 234 Attack and 233 Truck arrived, fire was out, smoke condition only, 233 Truck crew performed ventilation and checked for extension opening up walls. Fire contained to stove and cabinets above, no further extension found. Allegheny County Fire Marshall's office called for investigation.

Large Brush Fire

April 18th, 2008 - Plum Station's 233 & 236 were dispatched to a brush fire behind Pennant Dr. 233 Asst 2 on scene with a large brush fire (approx. 75 x 75 yds.) well involved next to a gas well. 233 Engine 1 arrived pulled (2) two 1.3/4" preconnects and started extinguishment. Hydrant next to fire hooked up to for supply to 233 Engine 1. 233 Engine 2 and 233 Rescue arrived, 233 Chief assumed command. Crews assisted with extinguishment. All other units cancelled, fire under control, gas well not damaged. All 233 units returned after pickup.

Motor Vehicle Accident w/ entrapment

April 14th, 2008 - Plum Station's 233 & 235 were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with entrapment on Hulton Rd. near Oakmont Country Club. 233 Rescue arrived to find a 2 vehicle accident (t-bone) SUV vs a Pickup Truck with heavy damage both vehicles. 1 victim in each vehicle entrapped. Oakmont Eng. 216 assisted removing patient from pickup while 233 Rescue crew started extrication on SUV. Vehicle stabilized, driver's side doors removed, dash roll performed with Hurst rescue tools. Crews assisted Plum Ems with patient removal. 235 Squad also on scene assisted. Command terminated all units returned.

Motor Vehicle Accident w/rollover & entrapment

April 12th, 2008 - Plum Station's 235 & 233 were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with rollover, entrapment and ejection on Repp Rd @ Kerr Rd. 235 Chief on scene with a SUV on it's side that struck a pole and rolled over several times. 1 Male patient laying in yard, 1 female still entrapped. 233 Asst, 233 Rescue on scene started extrication. 235 Engine 1 on scene, assisted with stabilization and hazards. Wires down across area also. Vehicle stabilized and roof cut with rescue saw, patient in vehicle removed. Plum Ems medic units handled patient transports. Fire/Rescue units remained on scene until vehicle removed by tow.

April 8th, 2008 - Plum Station's 235 & 233 were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with rollover and ejection on Rt.909 - Coxcomb Hill. 235 Asst on scene with a SUV on it's roof with 1 victim laying on roadway. 233 Squad & 235 Engine 1 arrived. 233 Squad crew started QRS patient care. 233 Rescue arrived & assisted until New Ken Ems arrived. 235 Engine crew cleared debris from roadway. Patient transported by ems.

Vehicle fire/Brush fire

April 7th, 2008 - Plum Station's 235 & 233 were dispatched to a vehicle on fire with a brush fire as well on Route 909 (Coxcomb Hill) at Penn Glenn Oil. 235 Engine 3 on scene with a SUV fully involved and a brush fire approx. 50yds x 20yds along the river. 235 Chief w/command. 235 Engine pulled preconnect and started extinguishment of vehicle. 233 Truck & 233 Chief arrived, 233 Truck crew assisted with extinguishing brush fire.

Thanks to Plum Borough for the funding to upgrade our system from low band and thanks to Allegheny County 911 for all their help in the transition. Smoke in a structure

April 1st, 2008 - Plum Station's 235 & 233 were dispatched to smoke in a structure on Dinwiddie Dr. E235-3, Trk 233 on scene with smoke showing from front door. E235-3 setup preconnect, Trk 233 aerial to roof. Trk233 crew investigated and found extension cord burnt thru carpeting in living room area. Fans setup for ventilation. Rescue 233 and Engine 235-1 staged. All units returned command terminated.

Residential Structure Fire

March 22, 2008 - Plum Station's 234,233 & 236 and mutual aid from Sardis Eng. 333 were dispatched to the 1600 block of Old Leechburg Rd. for a possible structure fire. 233 Truck and 234 Attack arrived to find a 2 story residential farm house nothing showing. 234 Chief w/command. Further investigation by T233 & A234 crews found heavy smoke inside the structure. Fire in bedroom found on 2nd floor involving mainly mattress and some contents. Extinguished with preconnect from 234. PPV set up for ventilation. Sardis E333 and 233 Engine 2 split layed supply line up driveway to Attack 234. 3 family pets were removed by firefighters. Allegheny County Fire Marshall's Office called to scene to investigate. Fire contained to room and contents with some extensive 2nd floor smoke damage.

Large Brush Fire

March 17, 2008 - Plum Station's 233 & 235 were dispatched to Route 909 near the Duquesne Light Substation for a large brush fire. 235 Engine 1 arrived find a grass fire along roadway. 235 Chief with command. A large second and third brush fire was discovered up hillside approx. 100 yds from roadway. 233 Engine 1 and Engine 2 arrived, crews sent up power line road to fires. 235 Engine 3 arrived, crew assisted as well. 233 Chief with operations. Fires extinguished with water cans and brooms. Penn Hills Mini 223 requested and staged on scene, later released. Fires possibly started from power line arching.

Truck Fire

March 8, 2008 - Plum Station's 233 & 236 were dispatched to Old Frankstown Rd. for a Vehicle Fire. While enroute County 911 reporting it was a Salt truck on fire with an injured driver. 233 Engine 1 and 233 Asst-2 on scene with a well involved Salt truck fire. 233 Engine 1 pulled 200 ft. 1.3/4" preconnect to attack fire. Class B - AFFF foam used to extinguish diesel fuel that was burning around vehicle. 236 Engine 1 and 233 Engine 2 supplied tank water to 233 Engine 1, crews assisted.

Structure Fire - House Explosion

March 5, 2008 - Wednesday around 1:40pm Plum Station's 236,234,233 and Sardis Sta. 78 were dispatched to a Structure Fire w/Explosion and Injuries on Mardi Gras Dr. 236 Chief with command, Two victims found in area of explosion. Fully involved structure remains on fire with exposures sides B, C, and D. At least 15 additional homes damaged from explosion with debris scattered over large area.
236 Engine, 234 Attack hooked up supply lines and pulled handlines to attack fire. Sardis E78 assisted. 233 Truck crew assisted with handlines, utlility control on some of the 15 damaged structures & checked for any other injuries. Most of residents from surrounding homes evacuated to shelter. Numerous mutual aid companies called from Monroeville & Westmoreland County to assist. Many agencies called to scene due to scope of incident including Allegheny County Fire Marshalls office, Emergency Management, Gas companies, Red Cross, Salvation Army, etc.
Both victims transported by Stat Medivac to trauma centers.
Investigation continuing to determine cause of explosion.

Motor Vehicle Accident w/entrapment on Pa. Turnpike

March 1, 2008 - Approximately 4:30am Unity Station 233 was dispatched to a MVA with injuries and entrapment on the Pa. Turnpike 52 Eastbound. Rescue 233 on scene with a 1 vehicle accident, vehicle on it's side with driver entrapped. Rescue 233 crew stabilized vehicle and removed windshield to extricate patient. Plum Ems transported patient. Minor debris and fluid spill cleaned up as well. Rescue 233 returned, command terminated.

Motor Vehicle Accident

February 6, 2008 - Plum Station's 233 & 236 were dispatched to a MVA unknown injuries on Saltsburg Rd. @ Millers Ln. 233 Rescue on scene with a 2 vehicle MVA all occupants out of vehicle. Rescue crew handled debris cleanup and one patient assesment. FP 395 on scene also for traffic control. All other units cancelled.

Vehicle Fire

February 3, 2008 - Plum Station's 233 & 234 were dispatched to Universal Rd. @ Deborah Jane Dr. for a Car Fire. 233 Asst 1 on scene with a pickup truck fully involved. 233 Engine 1 arrived, pulled 150' preconnect and extinguished. Penn Hills Engines 223 & 226 on scene for backup also due to call being on Plum/Penn Hills border. Vehicle removed by tow all units returned.

January 27, 2008 - Plum Station's 233 & 234 were dispatched to Vale Dr. for a Car Fire. 233 Chief arrived to find a Dodge Neon with a fully involved engine compt. fire. 233 Engine 1 on scene pulled preconnect and extinguished. 234 Attack on scene also staged for backup.

MVA rollover w/ entrapment

January 22, 2008 - Plum Station's 233 & 236 were dispatched to Old Frankstown Rd. @ Pierson Run Rd. for an accident with entrapment. 233 Rescue and 233 Asst arrived to find a 1 vehicle MVA, vehicle on it's roof with driver entrapped. 233 Rescue crew stabilized vehicle, used Hurst Transformer spreaders and Maverick tool to remove door. Driver extricated and transported by Plum Ems. 236 Engine 1 & Monroeville E195 on scene also assisted. Command terminated by 233 Asst.

January 9, 2008 - Plum Station's 233 & 234 were dispatched to Unity Center Rd. @ Universal Rd. for a vehicle accident with injuries & entrapment. 233 Asst-2 on scene with a 2 vehicle MVA, 1 driver still in one vehicle. 1 vehicle up in the air against hillside. Rescue 233 arrived, crew stabilized vehicles w/cribbing & paratech straps. Atk234 on scene also, assisted with cribbing & spill pickup. Once stabilized, driver was assisted out thru passenger door. Plum Ems treated and transported patient. Units cleared after vehicles removed by tow.

Busy year in 2007 with 1,028 calls

The Unity VFD had a busy year with 1,028 calls for assistance in 2007 topping last years' number of 824 calls. As Plum Borough continues to grow, so does our service to the community. Approximately 43% were fire/rescue related calls while 57% were medical calls.


Motor Vehicle Accident

December 30th, 2007 - Plum Station's 233 & 236 were dispatched to Saltsburg Rd above Boyce Park Village for a MVA w/injuries possible entrapment with wires down. Rescue 233 & Chief 233 arrived with one vehicle MVA, driver still inside with wires & pole down. Chief 233 with command. Plum Ems on scene, Rescue 233 crew stabilized vehicle, assisted with patient care and removal, and lighted scene for crews. Sq233 and Engine 236-1 blocked roadway at each end of incident.
Patient transported by Ems, Rescue 233 remained on scene until vehicle removed by tow and Duquesne light arrived. Crews operated on scene for approx. 1 hour. Plum Fire Police 395 handled traffic detail until roadway re-opened.

Residential Structure Fire

December 30th, 2007 - Plum Station's 234,236,233 and Sardis Sta.333 were dispatched to Clements Rd for a structure fire. Chief 234 on scene with smoke showing from first and second floor windows.
Sardis Engine 333 on scene, pulled line into structure per command finding a room and contents fire and extinguished. Engine Co. Ops assistance from E236, ATK234 crews. Truck 233 crew placed ground ladders, assisted in ventilation w/PPV and lighted scene.
Smoke and heat damaged throughout, no extension of fire from room of origin. Allegheny County Fire Marshalls' Office on scene for investigation.

Vehicle Accident - Vehicle Fire

December 7th, 2007 - Plum Station's 233 & 234 were dispatched to Leechburg Rd. @ Elicker Rd. for a MVA w/injuries. County reported one of the vehicles was on fire. Rescue 233 arrived to find a 2 vehicle MVA with a 4 door sedan on fire (no one inside) vs. a SUV (driver still inside) no entrapment. Ch233 established command. Rescue 233 crew started assisting Plum Ems with patient care on 1 vehicle, ATK234 arrived and extinguished fire with class A foam. Rescue 233 remained on scene providing lighting and debris cleanup until vehicles removed by tow.

Electrical Fire

Nov. 28, 2007 - Station 233 was dispatched to a First Responder detail at Boyce Park Plaza on Boyce Park Dr. While Squad 233 was on scene Assistant Chief Turpin was notified of a worker injured in the area that just struck an underground high voltage line with a jackhammer. Asst 233 found fire in the hole next to manhole with jackhammer burning also. Used dry chem to extinguish, 2nd manhole up the street began exploding with fire also. That was extinguished as well. Evacuation of area started as a precaution. E233-1, E236-1 arrived to assist. Ems attended to injured worker. Duquesne Light notified, Allegheny County Fire Marshall's office called to investigate. Power was shut off to entire plan as Duquesne Light investigated. Fire crews remainded on scene providing lighting during investigation.
Crews were on scene for approximately 4 hours.

Vehicle Rescue Training

October 27th, 2007 - On Saturday the Unity VFD had training on our new Hurst tool equipment by Patrick Moore from The Fire Station Resource Center (our local Hurst rep). Firefighters got a chance to use our new Hurst Combo Maverick, Hurst Transformer spreaders and the Hurst Moc-II Cutters.


Vehicle Accident

August 24th, 2007 - Plum Station's 233, 235 were dispatched to Leechburg Rd near Elicker Rd. for a one vehicle MVA w/injuries. QRS233 arrived on scene with a Van w/ heavy front end damage. Plum EMS already on scene treating patients. 3 injuries, no entrapment. QRS233 crew assisted ems with patient packaging and removal.
Landing zone setup requested by Ems to be a Plum Creek Church. E235-3, E233-2, Ch234, to LZ. QRS233 remained at accident scene for cleanup until vehicle removed by tow.

Structure Fire

August 9th, 2007 - At approximately 8:45am, Plum Station's 236, 233 and 234 were alerted to a structure fire on Malabar Drive. E236-1 on scene with heavy smoke and fire laying supply line, Ch236 with command. Defensive attack put in place, protecting exposures as well. Truck 233 crew assisted with defensive operations, platform setup up for master stream from bucket. Attack 234 class A foam used to assist in extinguishment. Various units from Stations 194, Westmoreland Stations 20 and 78 assisted as well. Truck 233 operated on scene for approximately 5 hours. Official cause under investigation, residents reported seeing & hearing lightning strike during thunderstorm.
